In the book of John, chapter 6, from verse 22, Jesus engages people in a conversation and tries to explain to them that he is the fulfillment of their desires. The people had sought him out and Jesus said to them, when they found him, that they had been seeking him, not because of the miracles they had seen but because he had fed them with bread.
He explained that he is the bread of life and that no man comes to him unless the father draws him. This is very comforting to know. It tells us that God does a ton of work ensuring that we are able to come into his household without us needing to labour in order to enter. This is grace.
Jesus also explained that the work of God, required of us, is that we believe on him who God has sent. Faith. Our work is to exercise faith. Very comforting.
