Introduction
I will be doing a series from the Book of Daniel. I believe it will be useful to us at a time of global crisis. Daniel and his friends also lived through a crisis after losing their freedom, yet they still flourished.
Key Points from Chapter 1
- Daniel was taken into captivity and swept into a situation beyond his control.
- He purposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king’s food and wine.
- Daniel and his three friends did not suffer loss for obeying God. They appeared healthier than those who ate from the king’s table.
- God gave the four of them knowledge, skill, and wisdom. Daniel also had understanding in visions and dreams.
- When tested before the king, they were found to be ten times better than the magicians and enchanters in the kingdom.
- Daniel continued on beyond the reign of Nebuchadnezzar to the first year of King Cyrus.
Concluding Thoughts
- It is possible to conduct yourself properly in an extended crisis.
- God’s favor does not end in difficult times.
- We do not lose by following God’s word. We follow because we love Him and are called according to His purpose.
