Bible Study Series - The Book of Daniel - Chapter 3

Introduction

I will be doing a series from the Book of Daniel. I believe it will be useful to us in a time of crisis. Daniel and his friends also lived through hard conditions and still flourished under pressure.

Key Points from Chapter 3

  • Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold and commanded people to worship it.
  • Daniel’s companions, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, refused because of their faith.
  • The king gave them another chance, but they still would not bow.
  • He ordered the furnace to be heated seven times hotter.
  • The three men were thrown into the fire, but the flames did not hurt them.
  • Nebuchadnezzar saw a fourth figure with them in the furnace.
  • The king later praised their God and protected their faith by royal decree.

Concluding Thoughts

  • We should ask ourselves whether we would stand firm under similar pressure.
  • Sometimes a stand of faith brings persecution and real cost.
  • God showed up strongly on behalf of those who trusted Him.
  • Hard challenges, when met with faith, can lead to promotion.
