Introduction

I will be doing a series from the Book of Daniel. Daniel and his friends lived through crisis and captivity, yet still flourished and remained faithful.

Key Points from Chapter 9

• Daniel understood from Jeremiah’s writings that Jerusalem’s desolation would last seventy years.
• He responded by turning to God with prayer, fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.
• Daniel prayed with confession and intercession for his people.
• Gabriel appeared to him and brought wisdom and understanding.
• Daniel was told he was greatly beloved.
• The angel explained matters concerning transgression, reconciliation, and the rebuilding of Jerusalem.

Concluding Thoughts

• Daniel was diligent in searching the scriptures.
• Even when he understood prophecy, he still prayed.
• He lived for more than himself and cared deeply about his people.
• Crisis should never stop us from praying.
